Let’s be honest: There are people in this world that we don’t exactly click with. Maybe we flat out do not like these people. If this is the case, I vote we should just not comment about these individuals because our comments are not going to be coming from a place of love.
Here’s how I spent my 26th Birthday:
The night before my birthday I was up prepping to volunteer with Junior Achievement, teaching a 2nd grade classroom at Benton Elementary School. Not gonna lie – I felt pretty in over my head! I learned that being a teacher takes a lot of organization!
I started off my Monday with a 90 minute massage. : ) I loved this quote in the waiting room.
Then Cory & I took the dogs on a long walk trough Pawnee Prairie Park.
Here I am, walking into Benton on my first day! It was a lot less scary than I imagined it would be, though I have to give mad props to my teacher friends – I was exhausted every day after I left.
Ahh – relaxation.
Wearing my pretty “A” necklace from my sweet friend, Lindsay.
Cory switched shifts so that he could have Monday evening off to take me out. : ) We went to Bonefish for dinner & then to Mort’s for some 2-4-1 martinis. It was a little flashback to my 21st birthday, which was also a Monday that went spent at Mort’s as well.
Yum. PB&J Martini.
We ended the evening by catching a movie in the Director’s Suite at Warren Old Town. And, okay, splitting a pitcher.
And of course, a birthday gift. : ) Love.
To sum up my feelings on life at this point:
Here’s to 26!
Well…tonight I am writing to you humbled as I report that I, Audra Dinell, gossiped during lent. I ate fried foods too (and not just on Sundays). I FAILED at this attempt.
A couple of you told me that this would be hard. Many of you voiced your concerns about wanting to cut gossip out of your own life too, like I was trying to do. And many, many of you smiled & wished me luck – knowing that this task was close to impossible.
Hey – even my girl, Bethany Frankel is got in on this action (maybe she saw my blog?). : ) Read her Glamour article here.
So here’s what I learned.
1. Intentions are everything.
Plus, who wants to waste precious time talking about people we don’t even like?
2. The above mentioned lesson is easier said than done.
Therefore, I plan to revert to the following chart when questioning whether or not to say something, especially in group settings:
Thanks to my friend from Junior League, Ashley, who brought this chart to my attention.
3. We are all human.
Life is going to be lived & discussed. And that’s that. Passing along information or feelings is not a bad thing, if we are doing it in a way that is truthful & honest. And when we are speaking to those who are closest to us in life, it’s okay to have more in depth conversations about people or situations that help work out how we’re feeling.
One of my favorite people to discuss life with, Alex.
P.S. My final conclusion on this topic is that celebrity gossip does not count as gossip. : )
In a recent post I mentioned my Spring Bucket List. This past Sunday, Palm Sunday, I crossed an item off of my list! My family got together for Sunday lunch at my Mom’s & we made Glitter Easter Eggs!
– Grill Out Often
– Ride Bikes
– Celebrate my Birthday
– Have a Picnic
– Travel to California
– Walk Dogs Often
– Complete Warrior Dash
– Shop at the Farmer’s Market
– Play Tennis
– Travel to Vegas
– Go to the Drive-In
– Put Our House on the Market
– Read Often (Outside)
– Attend WSU Baseball Game
– Spring Clean
– Make Up Jar Project
I stumbled across the idea on Pinterest & decided to try & simplify it because, who I am kidding, I’m no Martha Stewart.
The glue. Which I DO NOT reccomend for this project, unless you want to have sticky fingers the rest of the day.
The results. They may not be flawless, but they are pretty! We made some non-glitter eggs too.
The winner. My mom is more crafty than my sister & I put together. This was her egg, of course. Dyed w/KoolAid & Glittered. : )
I will also say that we have been grilling out & walking the dogs often (two of my FAVORITE things to begin doing again every spring) but I’ll wait to cross those items off of the list until closer to the end of the season.
Happy April Everyone!
